Top SBA Lenders 2026

How the Top SBA Lenders 2026 rankings work

One number decides the order. This page says which number, where it comes from, what we leave out, and why a lender cannot pay to move up.

Where the data comes from

The U.S. Small Business Administration publishes its 7(a) and 504 loan-approval records under the Freedom of Information Act. We aggregate those public files by lender and by the state of the borrower's project. Our last aggregation was August 18, 2026.

Which period

The rankings use every approval in the federal files from fiscal year 2010 through the aggregation date, August 18, 2026. Each state page shows the same approval count for a lender that this ranking uses.

The formula

Rank by the number of SBA 7(a) and 504 loan approvals credited to the lender in that state. Highest count is #1. When two lenders have the same count, the tie breaks alphabetically by institution name. The top 10 are shown.

What is deliberately left out

Dollar volume, Google rating, whether a listing is claimed, and whether a lender has paid for placement are all excluded from the ranking. The code that sorts the list can only see three fields: the lender's name, its identifier, and its approval count. Dollars and rating appear on each row for context only.

Payment has no effect on rank

Lenders can pay for Featured placement elsewhere on this site, and it is always labeled. That placement does not touch these rankings and cannot. A paid lender ranks exactly where its approval count puts it.

When a state is not ranked

A state ranking is published only when at least 3 lenders hold credited approvals there. Below that, a list would say more about the size of the file than about the lenders.

How often it refreshes

Rankings update when we re-aggregate the federal files, which follows the SBA's quarterly FOIA release. The date at the top of each ranking shows the aggregation it reflects.

Who we are

SBALendersUSA.com is an independent directory operated by Battle LLC, Chicago, IL. We are not a lender and we are not affiliated with the U.S. Small Business Administration. A rank here is a description of the federal record, not an endorsement and not a statement about any loan decision.
